Ms. Ratri Pipattanapaiboon thanked PM and the Government for their help
February 11, 2013, at 1400hrs, at the Purple Room, Thai Khu Fah Building, Government House, Ms. Ratri Pipattanapaiboon, along with members of the National Human Rights Committee, paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra to express her appreciation for the Government’s help on her being granted a royal pardon, and return home safely.
Ms. Ratri thanked PM Yingluck for all the helps while being imprisoned in Phnom Penh until the royal pardon, and requested PM to provide help to Mr. Veera Somkwamkid who is still imprisoned in Cambodia and has health problems.
PM Yingluck congratulated Ms. Ratri for returning safely to Thailand and insisted that the Government had a duty to protect all Thais and the country’s best interests. As for the case of Mr. Veera, PM would have concerned agencies coordinate with the Cambodian authority to take care of his health and pay frequent visits. In fact, PM Yingluck had a talk with the Cambodian Prime Minister on the transfer of prisoner back to Thailand, and the Cambodian premier promised to look into the possibility, so we had to respect Cambodia’s decision. Nevertheless, PM Yingluck confirmed that the Thai Government would still keep trying its best in the case.
